About Us

The business was originally established in October 1986 by Chris and Wendy O’Brien and was taken over by Mike Stansfield in February 2003, when Chris and Wendy decided to retire. Mike began his working life as a Motor Insurance underwriter with Refuge Assurance and has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry with companies like The Refuge, Legal & General, Britannic Assurance and Countrywide Assured.

M J Stansfield is an Independent General Insurance Intermediary which means we have access to a wide range of insurers. Because we have been trading for a number of years we deal with established Insurers who have a good financial track record.

As with all Insurance Intermediaries, we are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and our FSA number is 306402. We are also associate members of Broker Network and Members of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Therefore, if you’ve been on the internet, or contacted an Insurer by telephone, but don’t understand what’s being offered; call into the office for some friendly face to face advice. With Mikes experience, he should be able to point you in the right direction and to a policy which is suitable for your needs.
